Firm Founders

The ALTUS Environmental co–founders, Merritt McGlothlin and Charley Adams, have dedicated much of their careers to the environmental industry. Merritt served as an executive with petroleum marketing firms for 30 years. After retiring in 1994, he co–founded ALTUS (then WMA Environmental), and worked exclusively on environmental issues for the next decade. Although largely retired and mostly playing golf in Tucson, Merritt stays attuned with the industry and participates in various activities for ALTUS.

Charley started out in the mining industry exploring and mining for gold and silver. Since the early 1980s, the fledgling days of the environmental industry, he has pioneered services in Colorado related to waste management, underground storage tanks, Phase I audits, radon, and asbestos mitigation. He has provided unparalleled client service for over two decades now.
